Cursed by janaalus Cursed by janaalus

This is an illustrated semiotic analysis of the Macedonian story "Sive and Chule", a sub story of the great folktale "Siljan the Stok". If you want to know more about  "Siljan the Stork" you can find the story in this book:…

edit: Extreme OMG I got a DD! Thank you all!! I love deviantART!

This painting is unbelievably stunning! I love the use of colors, and the softness and emotion you managed to provide :)
If you don't answering, I'm curious to know what your interpretation of this piece is, and even the story itself
Again, brilliant piece!

Well...I'll try to keep this one short... or shorter :)). This sub story is about a brother and a sister, Chule and Sive. They were really disrespectful to their parents and constantly fighting. Even their parents were old, they were still trying to teach them what is right, but Sive and Chule weren't paying any attention. They were still lazy and ill-behaved. One day while arguing with their parents, their mother said: I curse you to become birds, to wander around the forest, to fly from thorn to thorn, to be so close but never see each other again!! At that moment they turned into birds and flew away through the window... They are still trying to find each other, and if you go in the woods you can still hear them calling: Sive, Sive! Chule, Chule!
In this illustration I wanted to show the claustrophobic, but still the lonely feeling of the curse. I draw them so close, trapped in the trees, but with white eyes and turned away so they could never see each other. About the whole story about Siljan the Stork, you can watch the video. I know that is hard to understand the narrator, because is a kid, but that was the only thing I found in English. The story is too big and can't find that much time to translate it.

I found an English version of the story, there is a link in the description. I know it is hard to read from this, but if I find some better version. I'll update it.
